Movement is important in today's classroom. Students are up and out of their chairs, moving from place to place within the room and within the school. But while they are sitting, our first, second and third graders are still able to move. That's because these classrooms have new furniture, including the Flavors Noodle Chair by Smith System (Yes, this is the real name for the brand of chair.)

These chairs are able to move as students move while sitting. The seat shifts and tilts when the child moves or turns from side to side. Also, the back of the chair leans back and can flex. The old chairs were hard and did not have any flexibility. Research has shown that movable seating makes learning easier. "Removing resistance and restriction from the seat helps the fidgety student to shift his or her efforts from fighting the chair to concentrating on the lesson," according to the manufacturer's website.
