Musicians from the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera played and taught students about their instruments during Music Day.

Music Day, first held in 2017, is made possible by the Aldridge/Patten Fund for Visiting Artists, started by Henry Aldridge and Fontaine Patten Moore, both from the class of 1955.

The strings quintet played several selections and showed how their instruments varied in size and sound -- two violins, viola, cello and bass. Some of the familiar pieces were Be My Guest from Beauty and the Beast and one of the themes from Star Wars.

The woodwinds quintet demonstrated different kinds of rhythm in their selections that included ragtime, a march and blues. The instruments were two clarinets, a flute, bassoon and French horn.

Both groups played The Bright School Song, and students sang in accompaniment.
