Bright School is marking national Read Across America Week with two visiting authors in the library.

Read Across America Week is a celebration of books and reading that typically begins each year on March 2, in honor of Dr. Suess’ birthday. To mark the occasion, Bright hosted two authors to engage with our early education students.

On Monday, March 4, Mrs. Elle Muliarchyk Johnson, mother of second grader Henley, delighted JPK and first-grade students with her self-published books and an engaging puppet show featuring her characters. One of her featured works, "What Underwear Does a Zebra Wear?," is a compilation of silly jokes aimed at children. Copies of her book are available for checkout in the library.

Then on Tuesday, March 5, Mr. Tom Bissonette, grandfather of Elias in PK, shared insights into his collection of self-published books, which feature his own captivating graphics. His wife, Jane, enthralled PK and Kindergarten students by reading several selections from Mr. Bissonette's works, some of which are also available for checkout from our library.

Read Across America week continues tomorrow with a book character parade where students and faculty will be dressed as their favorite book characters.
