The Tennessee Arts Academy (TAA) has named The Bright School as one of the top elementary schools in the state of Tennessee for arts education programming.

This recognition acknowledges our commitment to visual and performing arts through music, art, theater and woodshop, which dates back to Miss Bright's vision for our school's founding in 1913.

The TAA reviewed applications from many public and private schools across the state, saying that, "It was a difficult endeavor because all the schools showcased amazing work happening in our music, art, theatre and dance programs across Tennessee!" Bright School was among only four elementary schools recognized as a "School of Merit," out of 10 total finalists.

Head of School Kristin Watts said of the accolade, "I am immensely proud of the creativity and dedication displayed by our arts program teachers and our students. Their exceptional work enriches our community and prepares students for life beyond the classroom."

The school now moves on to the second phase of the application for the distinction of being the top “Arts Rich School of the Year” in Tennessee.

Congratulations to Mrs. Julia Mayo, Mrs. Thankful Davis, Mr. Richard Parks and Mrs. Karen Smith for providing these important enriching experiences for our students!
