Open House and Grandparents' Day This Week

Open House on Thursday
Children and parents attend Open House. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Centennial Theater. After the assembly, everyone is dismissed to the classrooms. The event ends at 7 p.m. Overflow parking will be at Stuart Heights Baptist Church, and shuttles begin running at 4:45 p.m. and continue through the evening.

Grandparents' and Special Persons' Day on Friday
Students wear navy uniform bottoms (no shorts) and white uniform tops for the performance.

Refreshments for our visitors will be available on the concourse beginning at 8 a.m., and the school-wide assembly in the Centennial Theater begins at 8:30 a.m. Afterward, visitors will meet students in their classrooms. All children are dismissed at 10:30 a.m. If your child is leaving with grandparents, please inform your child's teacher. See below for Bright Afternoons.

Visitors park at Stuart Heights Baptist Church, and shuttles will run continuously beginning at 7 a.m. Parking at school is limited to those with a government-issued disabled parking permit who have already reserved a space.

Thank you to all those who have volunteered to help during this exciting day (look for important information coming in your inbox). If you have any questions, please contact Bibber McCurdy at 423.580.8798 or [email protected] or Dorothy Caplenor at 423.443.8049 or [email protected].

Cadek at Bright Coming This Fall

We are excited to announce that this fall the Cadek Conservatory of Music will offer music instruction at Bright as part of our after-school program. Located on the campus of Girls Preparatory School, Cadek is expanding its program to our campus and managing all after-school lessons for Bright. Having Cadek at Bright will bring more instruments and more instructors across multiple age groups.

Registration for the fall term begins July 2. If you need more information prior to the start of registration, please contact Cadek Coordinator Marcy Wilson at 423.634.7694 or by email at [email protected]. More information will be available soon at Cadek.org.

Rachel Desmond Named Counselor

Rachel Desmond will be the school's counselor starting this fall. She is currently the counselor at Rossville (Ga.) Elementary School. Miss Demond, who is getting married this fall, earned her bachelor's degree in psychology at Auburn University and her master of education in counselor education at the University of Virginia. She completed her counseling practicum and was an intern at public schools in Virginia. Mr. Morgan will introduce Miss Desmond at Open House on Thursday, and parents will be able to meet her.

School Uniform Options

A new vendor has been approved to provide school uniforms. This summer, School Uniforms by Tommy Hilfiger will offer all of our current uniform choices for girls and boys on its website. The Parents' Association, which receives a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of school uniforms, approved this new vendor. We will inform parents when the new website is ready to take orders.

The remaining uniform vendors are Land's End and Educational Outfitters, and Threads will continue to provide embroidery for shirts. We have discontinued embroidery with Net Specialties. And don't forget the used uniform sales the PA organizes throughout the year. For more information about the dress code, please visit our website.

Last Track Meet Today

Today is the last track meet at Bright. Parents picking up children from Bright Afternoons should proceed down the driveway and pull in front of the concourse. Mary Bosshardt and her staff will bring your child to the vehicle.

Parents attending the track meet should park at Stuart Heights Baptist Church and ride the shuttle to campus.

Lost and Found

Please check the lost and found bin beside the concourse for any items your child may have lost. The bin will be cleaned out and items removed the week of May 14.

Planning Ahead: Bright School Picnic

You will want to make plans now to attend the annual picnic with your child on Friday, May 18. There is no school that day. The picnic is held at the Peeples' farm in Ringgold, Georgia. More details will be coming soon!
