Forms Due on Registration Day

There are several forms and payments due on Registration Day. Use this checklist to help organize your forms. All of this information is available on our Registration Day webpage.

The required forms include:

Health Form

Authorization for Dismissals

Responsible Use Policy K-23-5

Text Messaging Alert

Download these forms from the Registration Day webpage. You may fill them out online and email them to [email protected] or print them and bring them to the office or your child's teacher on Registration Day.

There are medical forms that are only required if they pertain to your child: Epi-PenInhalerOTC or Prescription. These are due by Registration Day.

All students must have an immunization form on file in the office by Registration Day. Students in JPK, PK and K and any new students in other grades should receive an updated and current form from their pediatrician. Returning students who are already up to date and are not required to have immunizations this year do not need to turn in a new form. Read more about immunizations on our policies page under immunizations.

Registration Day Schedule

We are looking forward to Registration Day and welcoming our new families to Bright! Children will get to meet their teachers on August 15. Students do not wear uniforms. Here is the schedule:

Bright Afternoons

What is your child doing after school? Sign up for Bright Afternoons, which is available until 6 p.m. The signup forms for JPK-PK and K-5 are available on the Bright Afternoons webpage.

Also, Bright Afternoons will be available for JPK-K on Phase-In Days. If you would like your child to attend, please sign up in your child's classroom on Registration Day.

After School Classes

The list of after school classes will be posted online on Wednesday, August 1. Sign up for these classes begins on Registration Day. Classes begin after Labor Day.

Visit the Bright Afternoons webpage on Wednesday.

Correct Directory Information

Parents will receive a printed directory of all families, faculty and staff on Parents' Night. To help make the directory as accurate as possible, all families need to check their contact information and make sure it is correct. You should have received an email last week that asked you to update any information that is incorrect. You must make corrections by Friday, August 3. If you do not receive this email or have questions, please contact Renee' Kropff at [email protected].

Volunteer to be a Grade Level Rep

The Parents' Association has changed the format of room reps. Instead of having volunteers from each classroom, there will be six representatives for each grade. Volunteers will have specific jobs among the six reps. Parents may sign up to be a grade rep on Registration Day on a sheet beside the classroom door.

To learn more about the responsibilities of the grade reps, please read the guidelinesposted on the PA webpage. For more information, contact Lucy Sawrie at [email protected].

Library Volunteers and Birthday Books

The library is seeking volunteers to help during the week and during the Book Fair, which will be in December. For more information, see the Library Volunteer form on the Registration Day webpage.

Another way to support the library is to donate books through the Birthday Book Club. With a $20 donation, books are given to the library in honor of your child. He or she will pick out the book and will be the first to check it out. Please send $20 and the Birthday Book Club form to the library or office by October 1.

For questions about volunteering or the birthday book club, please contact librarian Elizabeth Oakes at [email protected].

Sponsor an International Flag

The Bright School celebrates the diversity of its families by displaying flags from countries of origin on the Guerry International Plaza that overlooks the parking lot. We are in the process of ordering new flags for this school year. If you would like to sponsor a flag to represent your family, please send or bring to the office a check for $50 to The Bright School by Registration Day. Questions? Contact Ms. Janie at [email protected].

Bright Sponsorships

Monetary sponsorships, auction items or in-kind gifts are all ways you can help ensure the best education possible for our kids! In return, you will receive advertising and publicity that identifies your business as a strong supporter of early childhood education. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. There are four levels of sponsorships. For more information, visit our sponsorships webpage or contact Kim Brown, director of advancement: [email protected].

If you would like to donate an item for the Pajama Party Auction or Art Party, also please contact Kim Brown at the above email address. The Pajama Party Auction is an online auction, and the Art Party is a silent auction event. Both fundraisers are held in the fall.

Register By August 15 for Cadek Music Lessons

Girls Preparatory School's Cadek Conservatory of Music is offering music lessons at Bright this fall. Registration is now open. Priority will be given to Bright students now through August 15. After that, lessons will be open to the community.

If you are interested in registering your child, the first step is to contact Cadek coordinator Marcy Wilson at [email protected] or 423-634-7694. She will answer all questions and place students with an instructor. After your child has been assigned an instructor, you may register your child on the Cadek website. You and your child's instructor will schedule the day and time for the music lesson. In the registration process, you will select Bright as the location.

Registration is available for the fall term, which begins August 13 and ends December 10. You may choose to register for the entire 17 weeks or for A term, which is the first nine weeks, or B term, which is the second eight weeks.

For more information about the Cadek Conservatory of Music at Girls Preparatory School, please visit the website.

Last Chance to Buy a Yearbook Online

If you wanted to purchase a yearbook for the last school year, 2017-18, you may still do that online and pick up the yearbook at Registration Day. Otherwise, there will be only 20 books available that day to purchase. Everyone who ordered a yearbook online last year will pick up the books at Registration Day except families of last year's fifth graders, who will get their books at a special event in September. Orders for the 2018-19 yearbook have not started.
