School Counselor Nicole Smith Announces Departure

Nicole Smith, who has been our school counselor since 2006, is moving with her family to the Dallas-Fort Worth area early next year. She will be fulfilling her duties through the end of January as her husband, Jonathan, begins a new job in Texas. Mrs. Smith works with children in all grades as well as teaches yoga and character education. She also oversees community service activities. "Nicole is a wonderful counselor, colleague, teacher and friend. We will all miss the support she provides to our students and the enthusiasm she brings to school every day," said Head of School O.J. Morgan. A search for a new school counselor will commence in 2018.

Do Not Block Driveway on McDade Lane

In the morning and afternoon car lines, please do not block the driveway of 1910 McDade Lane, the first house on the right as you come toward the school. Please leave room for our neighbors to come and go from their driveway. Thank you!

What to Wear for Cooler Weather

Please remember the only outerwear children may wear indoors at school are uniform sweaters and sweatshirts, property of Bright School sweatshirts, jackets with the school house logo and spirit wear jackets sold in the bookstore. Students may wear any kind of coat or jacket to go outdoors, but this outerwear should not be worn in the classroom. If your child is cold inside, please have him or her keep a sweatshirt or uniform-approved jacket to wear at school. Don't forget to label all clothing. For a complete list of outerwear do's and don'ts, please visit our uniforms policy webpage.

It's Cyber Monday!

Remember Amazon Smile this gift-giving season! When you order items on Amazon Smile, you may select Bright as the recipient of a percentage of the purchase.

Another way to support Bright is to shop at Publix. Swipe your green Publix key tag at the register. If you don't have a Bright School Publix tag, pick up one in the office.

Buy One, Bring One Canned Food Drive

Collection cans are set up in the main office, lobby and Early Childhood Center for your canned food donations to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. We encourage families and students to get in the habit of bringing canned goods with the practice of "buy one, bring one" or BOBO. Each time you buy a can at the store, buy another one for CAFB and bring it to school. Please bring your donations for the holiday season over the next two weeks so they can be delivered before our Christmas break. Thank you!

Pizza Night on Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is tomorrow. You can support Bright by making it a pizza day or night. Jet's Pizza on Hixson Pike in the Rivermont shopping center will be donating a portion of its proceeds that day to Bright. We appreciate their and your support!

Book Fair Preview is Friday

This Friday, December 1, is the preview day for parents and grandparents. It is open from noon to 4:30 p.m.

The Book Fair will be December 4-7 from 7:15 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. each day in the library. We also will be open Friday, December 8 from 7:15-noon.

Students will go with their classes during an assigned time to shop during the week, and parents and grandparents are welcome and encouraged to join them. Students will be able to shop with a parent or grandparent before or after school, as well. Paperback books start at $3.99, and some hardback books may be as much as $20. The library will receive about 40% of the proceeds from the sale.

PA Social Activities

We had a fun time and a good turnout for the Tennessee Titans game before the Thanksgiving break. Families enjoyed the game and having time to get to know each other. Look for more social activities planned by our Parents' Association in the coming months.

Holiday Shopping at School

On December 19, classes will be able to stop by a Bright-inspired holiday shop to purchase gifts for parents, siblings and relatives. Items will range in price from $5-25. Parents are welcome to join students while they shop. Look in the weekly teacher emails for specific class times.

Does your child need a sweatshirt for cooler temperatures? All sizes now available in the bookstore. Also, be prepared for the next Bright T-shirt day on Friday, December 8. There are great new shirt choices in the bookstore across from the main office, and you can view some of them on our website.

The bookstore is mostly open Tuesday and Thursday mornings. If you would like to volunteer to work in the bookstore, visit the volunteer sign up page.

Donate Coats

As your child grows out of his or her coat or you are cleaning out closets at home, bring in your gently-used coats for the Warm Hearts Coat Drive of Whitfield County. Sizes needed range from 5T to adult. Collection bins are placed in the main lobby and Early Childhood Center.
