Thank You for Selling Charleston Wrap

The Charleston Wrap sale has ended with winners all around, most importantly our school, which benefits from the Parents' Association's largest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds from the sale will go toward the kitchen and dining hall renovations.

For having at least 75 percent participation, the entire school will be served Chick-fil-a for lunch tomorrow. Mrs. Layton's fourth grade class won the class with the highest sales and will receive an ice cream party provided by Milk and Honey.

The top-selling winner for the school was third grader Ward Bickerstaff, who sold more than $1,500! Second place was fourth grader Petra Lund, and third place was Layla Large in PK.

The top-selling families competed in pig races: Chloe, Luke and Max Sawrie; Grady and John Robbins; Leighton Large; Carlos Baleeiro, and Emma, Quinn and Helen Davenport. John Robbins' pig won.

Auction Donations

The Pajama Party Auction is coming soon, but there is still time to donate items such as event tickets, vacations, artwork, collectibles or other merchandise. If you have an item to donate, please contact Kim Brown.

Parking Safety

For the safety of our children and families, please do not park in front of the Early Childhood Center doors where the pedestrian walkway is painted on the driveway. This area is for people to exit the building and walk to the parking area. If you are picking up your child from Bright Afternoons, please park in the parking lot and walk into the building. Similarly, the driveway along the concourse is a fire lane. Please do not park there when you are picking up following after school classes.

Asbestos Plan

The Environmental Protection Agency requires that information pertaining to the school's asbestos management plan be made available each year. The Bright School has a plan on file. Parents interested in the plan should contact the Business Office.

Sunshine Math

Worksheets for October are now posted on the website. Sunshine Math is a math enrichment for grades K-5. Worksheets are due by the end of the month. Turn them in to the office.

Wear White Shirts Next Monday

Please make sure your student wears a white uniform shirt next Monday, October 16, for an all-school photo that morning. Students may wear any color uniform bottom, but girls should not wear a jumper or dress. If you do not have a white shirt, please stop by the office and ask to look in the used uniform closet.

Picture Retakes on Wednesday

Students may have their LifeTouch school photo retaken tomorrow morning. Please email your child's teacher if he or she will have a retake.

Art Party on October 21

The Bright Art Party is Saturday, October 21, from 5:30-8 p.m. at Sophie's Shoppe. Parents, alumni, friends and donors are invited to bid on fantastic pieces of art like this painting by Mia Bergeron.

Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served. Sophie's Shoppe and AliAnn's Children's Boutique will be donating 25% of sales to the school during the event. This is an adults-only event.

Box Tops Due Today

Use the flyer that went home with your child before Fall Break to collect Box Tops. Just tape them on and turn in the flyer to the office by this afternoon. You do not have to fill all the spaces on the flyer. Remember, our goal is 12,000 Box Tops this year to pay for the new water fountain/filling station by the gym.

Spirit Shirt Day on Friday

This Friday, October 13, is the first Bright spirit shirt day of the year. There will be one each month. Students may wear any Bright t-shirt with uniform bottoms. There are great new shirt choices in the bookstore across from the main office, and you can view some of them on our website.

The bookstore is mostly open Tuesday and Thursday mornings. If you would like to volunteer to work in the bookstore, visit the volunteer sign up page.
