Health Information

March 5, 2020

Dear Parents,
We are continuing to monitor the spread of the coronavirus, including news today from Gov. Bill Lee that Tennessee has its first confirmed case in Williamson County. Our school is continuing preparations and prevention measures we discussed last week. Our students and teachers are washing hands with soap and water more frequently throughout the day, and our custodial staff has increased sanitizing efforts in all classrooms and common areas.
We also are preparing our teachers for distance learning in case school closes to prevent the spread of the virus. If this action is taken, you will first receive a text alert from the message system we use to communicate about weather closures and delays. This alert will be followed by an email from me and will provide as many details as we can share at the time. Our main concern is the health and safety of our students. If closure is warranted and the length of time is known to be more than a few days, we will send communications about our plans for distance learning. Our teachers will be equipped to provide online lessons for a prescribed amount of time each day. We will provide easy-to-use instructions and guidelines for parents.
Certainly, we hope the spread of the virus will not lead to the measure of closing school, but we will strive to provide the education and resources you expect from Bright School.
In the meantime, we encourage families to keep children home if they have a fever and/ or cough. They should not return to school until they are fever free without medication for 24 hours. Talk to your children about why it is important to wash their hands well and to cough and sneeze into a tissue or bent elbow.
Please let me know if you have any concerns or questions.
Thank you,
O.J. Morgan, Head of School
