This year's high jump was spectacular with many special guests and a lot of energy in the gym. Bright School's high jump tradition is more than 40 years old and going strong!

Rain moved the event indoors for the first time since 2019, and fifth graders Harlan and Wiley provided introductions and commentary.

Fifth grader Tate Watson cleared 4 feet, 3 inches to win the girls competition, and Calvin Caputo cleared 4 feet, 4 inches to win the boys competition.

Coach Bob Cutrer, who started the high jump in spring 1977, was a spectator along with NCAA high jump champion Eric Bishop, who spoke to the fourth and fifth graders last week as they prepared for the high jump.

Fresh off a Region track championship, Baylor senior and 2016 alumna Baker Young, also watched and gave an exhibition jump for the enthusiastic crowd.

Congratulations to all the 39 third, fourth and fifth graders who competed and gave their best! Third and fourth graders have to clear 3 feet, 4 inches during P.E. class to qualify. Any fifth graders can participate.
