Welcome to our newly-renovated library, dedicated today to O.J. Morgan, head of school 2004-2021. Mr. Morgan encouraged reading through a variety of fun activities like the time he spent the night on the roof after students and their families read one million minutes!

The renovation is part of the third and final phase of the $4 milion Building a Bright Future Capital Campaign. The library space was originally the gym when this location of Bright School opened in 1963. It remained the gym until the current gym was built in 1973, and then the library was moved from the back of the cafeteria to a much bigger space.

Head of School Kristin Watts began the ribbon-cutting and dedication with brief remarks about the project and Mr. Morgan. Then Leighton, Layla and Landry Claire Large cut the ribbon. Students visited the library and took turns going down the new slide!

Mrs. Watts said, "Good morning, Bright School! We are here this morning to celebrate. Over the past five years, many parents, grandparents, former students of Bright worked together to raise money to make our amazing school even better. Today we are celebrating the Bright School library!"

"If you remember, last spring we closed up the library for the summer and were so excited to see what it would look like at the start of this school year. Well, the day has come! The Large family and their daughters, Leighton, Layla and Landry Claire are here today to help us dedicate our library to Mr. OJ Morgan."

"Many of you remember Mr. Morgan, who was the head of Bright School for 17 years. When Mr. Morgan worked at Bright, he shared his love of reading with all of the students. He would do lots of fun reading challenges and if the students reached their goals, he did things like spending the night on the roof of the school, riding in a hot air balloon, and taking a boat ride down the Tennessee River. Because Mr. Morgan made reading so much fun, I bet it helped many of you love reading like Mr. Morgan. Mr. Morgan, today we celebrate you. Thank you for all you have done to inspire a love of reading in students and for helping make Bright the amazing community it is today."
