Scooter Races is a fun annual event for grades K-5 students and teachers to represent their grades in front of the whole school. The races are fast and fun ways to learn about competition, winning and losing.

Scooter Races were started about 20 years ago by now-retired P.E. coaches Jan Connell and Jim Blair. The scooters are flat platforms on four little rollers. There are four racing styles: backward, forward, tummy and knee.

During the week, students compete against their classmates to represent their grade in the big event. That means all the competitors are the best and fastest in their grades.

Kindergarten, first and second winners compete, and third, fourth and fifth grade winners compete.

At the end, teachers compete in pairs.

Winners receive medals and stand on the podium for pictures.
