It's a tradition at Bright to celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) in conjunction with Halloween. Art teacher Thankful Davis and Spanish teachers Cindy Avendano and Claudia Rodriguez plan a day of art and Spanish to learn the students about this holiday. All grades participate in an art project that is related to the holiday, using symbols such as skulls and marigolds and the colors of yellow and orange. Students get to taste pan de Muerto (a special bread) and chocolate caliente (traditional Mexican hot chocolate).
