The 44th Bright School High Jump took place outdoors for the first time. Fifth graders Banks Born and Catherine Curtis were the top jumpers.

Coach Bob Cutrer started the high jump in 1976 as an all-school event. Last year, we unfortunately did not have the high jump due to COVID-19 and the school closure.

In recent years, younger grades have been invited to qualify for the high jump. For third and fourth graders to qualify, they had to clear 3 feet, 4 inches in P.E. class during the week. Fifth graders could choose to participate without qualifying.

The event was held outdoors on the GMAC track. Third, fourth, fifth graders and parents of participants attended. Children on the early childhood playground got a sneak peek as well.

Catherine Curtis cleared 4 feet, 3 inches as the top girl. Banks Born, who was the top jumper two years ago as a third grader, cleared 4 feet, 6 inches as the top boy this year.
