Third graders made a rose trellis in shop class using plans created by shop teacher Richard Parks' great-grandfather.
Joseph Parks, the great-grandfather of Richard, was supervisor of industrial education for the public schools in Wichita, Kansas. Richard and his father also are woodworking hobbyists.
Each third grade class made a trellis this spring, and they will be used in the gardens at school.
