One of the dearest traditions we have at Bright School is buddies. Fifth graders are matched with a kindergarten buddy, and they participate in various activities throughout the year.
With face coverings and distancing, buddies met each other this week. Kindergarten buddies made signs with their buddies's names to greet them. Fifth graders picked out books from the library to reach to their buddies.
Buddies gives the fifth graders a great opportunity to mentor a younger student and hone leadership skills. Kindergarten students enjoy knowing an older student.
In this time of the pandemic, we may not be able to have buddies the way we always have in the past, but we're continuing this important tradition.
