Second graders are learning about the migration of Monarch butterflies, which travel to Mexico for the winter and return north for the summer. Students made their own paper butterflies, which have been mailed to Mexico through an international program called Journey North. Students in Mexico will receive the butterflies and keep them until the spring, when the Monarchs migrate north.

Science teacher Melanie Nestler and Spanish teacher Cindy Avendano coordinate this project with the classes.
