The city of Chattanooga will begin cleaning and refurbishing the sculpture at our entrance on Friday, September 5. We expect the work to be completed in about a week.
Through a partnership with Public Art Chattanooga, Bright School purchased this sculpture at the school's entrance and gifted it to the city of Chattanooga. More than 144 donors from the Bright School community combined resources to purchase the colorful sculpture by Oregon artist C.J. Rench.
Former Head of School O.J. Morgan said of the project, "The school wanted to make a gift to the community that expressed both our mission as well as our desire to be valuable community partners. The sculpture was an ideal choice."
The sculpture was commissioned by Bright School in 2013 to thank the community for 100 years of support. Entitled Star Light Star Bright, this painted stainless steel kinetic sculpture stands over nineteen feet tall. A wonderful, happy work that projects the hopes of Miss Bright, showing all that enter the campus that Bright School is a "Happy Place where children gladly come."
