New faculty for 2024-25

The Bright School is excited to welcome five new faculty members for the 2024-25 school year. We also have one faculty member moving into a different position. 

Pre-K
Katie Shirley will be re-joining Bright as a Pre-K lead teacher, working with Mackenna Peters as her assistant. Katie is a familiar face at Bright having taught pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and third grade from 2015-2022. 

Kindergarten
Carrie Whitaker will join Bright from the Hamilton County Department of Education where she has experience with teaching early childhood grade levels and ESL experience since 2008. Olivia Fine will be her assistant in the classroom. 

First Grade
Betsy Otis will join Bright after teaching for eight years in both kindergarten and first grade in several school districts in Mississippi and Colorado. 

Third Grade
Lindsay Wyatt will join Bright with seven years of experience teaching upper elementary grades in Georgia schools. 

Speech and Language Pathology
Christine Scheib ‘94 comes to Bright with 15 years of speech and language therapy experience in Austin, TX public schools and private practice. 

In addition to these new teachers, Maggie McGuire-Haug will be moving to the Kilbride Enrichment Center to provide instructional support for math.
