Fourth grader Roger Caputo wins Spelling Bee
Fourth grader Roger Caputo correctly spelled a series of tricky words to win the Bright School Spelling Bee. He will now compete in the Tennessee Titans Online Qualifier Test.
Roger correctly spelled the word "ointment” to win the bee. Second place went to fourth grader Pate Vinson and third place went to fifth grader James Exum.
The bee went for ten rounds with 48 fourth and fifth graders who bravely competed.
The words started out fairly easy with examples like mighty, but the words became harder and more advanced quickly. The final rounds included words like diablo, phantom and dodgy.
Mrs. Hyer said the word for each speller, and the judges were Mrs. Kendra Reasor, Ms. Brittany Williams and Ms. Susan Pesterfield.
