The study of Tennessee is a tradition in fourth grade. Students learn all about our home state in this social studies unit, which culminates in the Tennessee Celebration.

Students enjoyed a day of fun learning about Tennessee. They wore Tennessee-inspired clothes to make the day comfortable.

Local lawyer and historian Maury Nicely '83 told stories about our state such as the Great Locomotive Chase during the Civil War.

Then students divided into groups and rotated between learning state facts with QR codes, making art out of the shape of Tennessee and learning to line dance.

For lunch, they had fried chicken for a picnic on the lawn in front of the log cabin while listening to the tunes of Lew Card '90, whose daughter, Josie, is a fourth grader.

It was a beautiful day to celebrate our state!
