The third annual Music Day brought the Athens Recorder Ensemble to school for a day of performing and learning. The group from Athens, Georgia, played several favorites for students including The Bright School Song, Country Gardens and the Chattanooga Choo-Choo.

Then fourth and fifth graders, who play recorders in music class, had master classes with ensemble. They played Country Gardens together and got to play percussion instruments to accompany a piece the ensemble played.

Music Day is made possible by the Aldridge/Patten Fund for Visiting Artists, started by Henry Aldridge and Fontaine Patten Moore, both from the class of 1955.

The Athens Recorder Ensemble is led by Kevin Kelly and also includes Nan McMurry, Kathie Shinholser, Wendy Arthur and Jim Hansen. Most of them have been playing together for 30 years, and two of them started playing the recorder at age 11 to 12.
