Fourth graders celebrated the state of Tennessee on Friday as part of their social studies unit on our home state. The Tennessee Celebration included square dancing, a stained glass art project, bluegrass music and lunch in Peeples Pavilion.

The day before, students took a field trip to Nashville to visit the State Capitol building, including the Senate chamber, where Secretary of State Tre Hargett spoke to the students. They also visited the Tennessee State Museum and saw a presentation on what Civil War soldiers carried in their knapsacks. Lunch was a special treat at the Old Spaghetti Factory downtown.
