Meet Frau Kyzer

 

Mrs. Kyzer (Frau Kyzer) is from Cornwall in the Southwest of England.

She speaks English, French, and German.  She also learned conversational Japanese when she worked in Okayama Prefecture, Japan, as an ESL teacher.  As part of her academic studies, she also took beginner courses in Spanish and Italian.

She moved to the United States in 1993 to coordinate a German Immersion Program in Charlotte, NC.  In 1998 she moved on with the students to the next level of the program and led the middle school partial immersion program at Smith Academy of International Languages.

She became a US citizen in 2006. She now lives in Chattanooga with her husband JD and their three children.  She has worked for UTC in a variety of capacities, including teaching in the ESL Institute, training early childhood teachers in literacy strategies development, supervising teachers of foreign languages, and teaching students in the Teacher Preparation Academy.

She has a Bachelor's Degree in Modern Languages from the University of Leeds, UK, and a PGCE in Second Language Education from Exeter University,UK.  She graduated from UTC in August 2009 with a Masters in School Leadership and the Outstanding Graduate Student Award.
