This is Mrs. Smith's 3rd academic year with Bright School. She has been a counselor since 1998 and has not only worked in the school setting, but has also worked in private practice and well as in the community, doing what she loves best-helping others. She is a Licensed School Counselor, a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor.

The School Counselor's office is a safe place for people to go and share what is on their minds. Mrs. Smith offers caring words, support and problem solving ideas to help students with their emotional needs. She believes that the emotional, social and academic components all work together to develop smart, adjusted and healthy individuals. Not only do students meet with her individually, but small groups are used as well, allowing students with similiar areas of interest to be supported by one another.

Mrs. Smith works with the whole school body on promoting Character Education. She also uses  the Responsive Classroom as an apporach to linking the social and academic needs of the student.

Mrs. Smith received her BA from the University of Central Florida and her MEd from Winthrop University. She has been married for over three years and in January she welcomed her first child. Her new little guy makes every day brighter (and busier). Motherhood has been her proudest accomplishment so far!
