Meet the Teacher
Sra. Laura E. Goetz
Spanish Program
Faculty member since 2000
Sra. Goetz was born and raised in Mexico City. Graduated from Universidad La Salle in Mexico City. She started her career of teaching Elementary School in 1983 with Instituto Pedagogico Anglo Espanol, in Mexico City. Taught in Colegio Cristobal Colon from 1989 to 1996. She continued her studies in Universidad La Salle and finished a degree in Education in 1993. Taught Spanish at Big Ridge Elementary School in Chattanooga and Spanish in Continuing Education at UTC. She was teaching College and High school just before she moved to The US in 1996. She married Michael in a beautiful City outside of Mexico called Cuernavaca.
Her passion is teaching and spending time with her family. She considers her biggest achievement was becoming an US citizen back in 2002.
In 2004 established a partnership with Colegio Cristobal Colon through video-conferencing and in the summer of 2005 took a group of children to visit Mexico City.
Having a partnership with an International school, in 2007 Sra. Goetz and Mrs. Maria Antonieta Monjaraz, English Director of Colegio Cristobal Colon, participated in “Challenge 20/20”. A Program organized by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) being International award winners in the prek- grade 5 division.
My goal for Bright School students is to converse freely basic Spanish, said Sra. Goetz. It will give them confidence and an ability to succeed in communicating in international travels.
