"While in college my library science professor influenced my decision to become a librarian, along with a 4th grade teacher who instilled my love of books and reading," said Mrs. Doyle. "Every day, I have the opportunity to plant the love of reading seed." Mrs. Doyle is proud of Bright School's book collection at 15,000+ volumes. The collection is two and one-half times above the minimum book per child suggested by the American Association of School Libraries. "We have a ratio of 43 books to every student," said Sarah. "And, this outstanding collection is housed in an aesthetically-pleasing facility. The library is a warm and welcoming place for children to enjoy." Sarah lives with her husband, Bill, and their dog, Dewey, in Ooltewah. They have one son, Brad, who lives with his wife, Anna, in Greenville, SC. Mrs. Doyle is an avid reader who enjoys flower gardening and browsing for antiques.
Assistant Librarian- Mary Cherry B.S. Degree in Elementary Education; 6 years as a teacher in Nashville and Hamilton County and over 25 years at Bright School.

Mary is a former elementary school teacher who became a librarian via volunteerism. "I was a library volunteer during the time my daughters, McLean and Rachel, attended Bright School," said Mary. "When they needed an assistant librarian, I filled that spot." According to Mrs. Cherry the daily interaction with the children is her favorite thing about working in the Bright School library. Mrs. Cherry and her husband Bill live in Shepherd Hills with two dogs and two cats. In her spare time, she enjoys being with granddaughter, Liza, gardening and browsing in antique shops.
