Welcome to Bright School

Welcome to The Bright School! Thank you for visiting our web site to learn more about this wonderful school. As you will quickly discover, Bright School is a special place where for almost a century teachers, students, and parents have come together to help guide the growth and development of young children.

As you explore our web site, I urge you to look for the tell-tale signs of education at its best. You will see children in an environment that both nurtures and motivates their intellectual development in a variety of ways, guided by skilled and caring teachers. You'll see children at play, developing their physical and social skills during these important foundational years. You'll find children forming the important values that will help lead them to a happy and successful future. And most importantly, you will observe many loving adults building important life-long relationships that give children the strength, skill, and hope to move forward successfully.

Bright School passionately believes in the dreams of Mary Gardner Bright, who began the school in 1913 and served as its Headmistress for 48 years. She celebrated children's natural delight in learning and believed deeply in the importance of "encouraging initiative in work, play, and the conduct of school affairs." Identifying the interests of the individual child was central to her goal of motivating all children, which is why you'll find a broad and rich curriculum at Bright School. Art, music, shop, science, physical education, computer, the performing arts, and Spanish all complement the important work in our core classrooms. Learning takes place all over our campus, and within our classrooms you'll find a variety of teaching styles and learning opportunities so that all our students have a chance to grow and progress. The Kilbride Enrichment Center further supports these efforts by tending to the individual needs of students at varying levels of development.

As our school mascot, Buddy, reminds us, we have lots of fun in the course of our learning. Miss Bright's highest goal was that the school be a "happy place where children gladly come." Actually, it's a place where all of us-children, parents, friends, and alumni-happily embrace the wonderful opportunity of teaching young children. In the classroom, and through picnics, plays, concerts, games, field trips, and special events we provide Bright School students with one of the most precious gifts they will ever receive.

Again, I welcome you to The Bright School. Come discover the possibilities.

Sincerely,

OJ Morgan Head of School
