Buy One, Bring One Canned Food Drive

This is the third year of the school's partnership with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. We are proud to support the community, and we believe community service is an important habit for students to start early.

Today, we are kicking off the annual canned good drive for the CAFB. We encourage families and students to get in the habit of bringing canned goods with the practice of "buy one, bring one." Each time you buy a can at the store, buy another one for CAFB and bring it to school. Collection bins will placed in the main lobby and office and the front desk of the Early Childhood Center.

Here is a message from our friends at CAFB: "In Hamilton County, we are faced with a food insecurity rate of 15.3%, which means 53,410 people do not know where they will find their next meal. The most staggering fact is 14,790 of our food insecure neighbors are children under the age of 18. We believe through the efforts of our organization, our community partnerships and invaluable volunteers and donors, food insecurity can be solved. The Chattanooga Area Food Bank would like to thank the parents, faculty and students of The Bright School for being a part of the solution to solve hunger in our area."

Curriculum Training for Teachers

Over the last two weeks, our teachers have participated in two workshops with consultants for our Bridges in Mathematics program (K-5) and our Open Court Reading program (K-2). These consultants worked closely with each grade level to fine-tune teaching strategies, discuss assessment options, and review our pacing of the programs. Our teachers are grateful that Bright School invests in their professional development throughout the school year. Please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher if you have questions about the strategies being used in either of these programs.

Admissions Parking

There is a new parking spot near the front door reserved for prospective families visiting school for a tour. Please do not park there. Thank you for your cooperation in helping families feel welcome.

Thanksgiving Program

Plan now to attend the Thanksgiving Program on Friday, November 17, at 10 a.m. This is a half day, and students dismiss at 11:30 a.m.

Shuttles for the performance will begin running at 8:30 a.m. from Stuart Heights Baptist Church. The program is scheduled to last 45 minutes, so we kindly ask parents to arrive and stay for the entire performance. Our children and Mrs. Bowling have worked very hard! If you cannot attend, watch the program live on Facebook. Shuttles will run after the program to allow parents to return to their vehicles in time to pick up children in the dismissal car line.

Students are required to wear white uniform shirts with navy bottoms: pants for boys and skirts/skorts, pants, or jumpers for girls.
