The Bright School Picnic is Friday

The annual Bright School Picnic is this Friday. There is no school on this day. Lunch of fried chicken and sandwiches is provided at $5 a person, except for fifth graders and their families. If you have not turned in the reservation form and payment, please do so ASAP.

The picnic begins at 9 a.m. at Cross Creek Farm, 530 Craven Road, Ringgold, Georgia. Directions to the farm are included on the reservation form.

We are monitoring the weather this week. If the picnic has to be called off, the school will send a text alert message and email to parents early Friday morning. Students would report to school on Friday, and the picnic would be held next Monday. Watch for more details later this week should plans change.

All children attend the picnic under adult supervision. Children may not be dropped off. This is a fun day for parents, too! Students will compete by grade in traditional picnic events such as the sack race and three-legged race, and the finale includes grade vs. grade tug-of-war competitions. Bring your blanket and lawn chairs to enjoy the races and lunch. Families may leave at their leisure. The fifth grade softball game begins after lunch.

Reception for Denise Cooper on Thursday

First grade teacher Denise Cooper announced her retirement earlier this spring, and we are celebrating her 14 years at Bright with a reception between 3:30-5 p.m. in the library on Thursday, May 17.

Children are welcome to attend with parents. If you plan to attend, please let us know by sending an email to Elizabeth Davis at [email protected].

After School Classes Survey

Planning has begun for which classes will be offered after school next year. Please take a few moments to complete this survey if your child attended after school classes or if you would like to recommend classes for next year.

Summer Art Workshops

Mrs. Thankful Davis is offering two art workshops this summer at Bright.

The Color and Movement workshop for rising grades K-2 is June 4-8 from 9 a.m. to noon. Students will explore and create two-dimensional projects and three-dimensional sculptures. They will explore color theory and expression while focusing on adding vivid movement to each work.

The Design and Discovery workshop for rising grades 3-5 is June 18-22 from 9 a.m. to noon. Students will create a variety of artworks ranging from sculptural glass pieces to STEAM-inspired mixed media works. Each day, they will have a different theme to explore and discover as they travel through a week full of art projects.

The cost of each class is $125, and there is a limit of 12 students per class. Click here to register your child.

Play DVDs

DVDs of the fourth, first and kindergarten plays are available in the office for $25.

Do Not Block Driveway

Please do not block the driveway of our neighbors who live on McDade Lane before the entrance to the school. Especially in the afternoons, leave a space for them to exit the driveway. Thank you!

Used Uniform Drop-off

If you have used uniforms you would like to donate to the PA's used uniform sale, please bring them in a bag and drop them off during morning car line on May 21, 22 and 23. There will be a used uniform sale in the summer. More details will be sent in June about the used uniform sale, embroidery drop-off and the School Uniforms by Tommy Hilfiger website launch.
