Fifth graders are paired with kindergarten students throughout the year and participate in activities together. The buddy tradition has been going strong for many years. It creates a bond that lasts beyond Bright.
This is an event for parents to learn more about their child's school day and to spend more time with our teachers.
Music has been a part of the Bright tradition for all of its more than 100 years. Students learn about sound, rhythm, and pitch, and they learn to sing, play instruments and perform.
Five new classroom teachers and a new school counselor are joining the faculty this year. Three teachers are in early childhood, where we have added two more classes due to increased enrollment.
Three faculty members and nine students traveled to England and Scotland this summer. They visited London, York and Edinburgh.
Using the O.J. Morgan Travel Grant, Mrs. Lusk and family spent 22 days touring and learning about new countries and cultures.
In late 2017, The Bright School lost two prominent alumni and supporters for whom two alumni awards are named. Jack McDonald ’45 died on November 25, 2017, and Fletcher Bright ’43 died a month later, on Christmas Day. The Board of Trustees adopted two resolutions in their honor this spring.
