The cabin, built from 150-year-old logs salvaged from a cabin in Arkansas, was made possible by the Schillhahn-Huskey Foundation. It will be used for educational activities and outdoor athletic equipment storage.
The Bright School Picnic is one of the favorite traditions of the school loved by current students and alumni. Each year, we gather for races like the sack race, three-legged, wheelbarrow and egg and spoon.
Pierson Brown '11 was the winner of the 2019 Citizen of the World Award, which honors young alumni who are taking a leadership role in community service. Fifth graders choose the winner based on nominations and a specific criteria.
The fifth grade recognition assembly is a time to honor the achievements of the graduating class. Students are honored for their participation and accomplishments in the classroom, after school activities, sports and the community. There were 25 fifth graders who received President's Excellence Awards.
First graders write stories throughout the year and then share their books with their parents at the annual Authors Tea. The handmade books show how the students have developed as writers over the year.
Third graders finished their study of American colonial life with the annual Colonial Day celebration. Students and teachers wore period costumes, and the students learned how to do several crafts colonists would have used in their everyday lives.
Students in grades 1-3 got to shop El Mercado during Spanish class to cash in the points they have received for learning and participating in class all year. With their pesos, students bought prizes by asking how much is it in Spanish?
This is always a special day at school. We enjoy welcoming all of our guests with a special musical performance. Then, the children give their guests a tour of their classrooms and school.
Carrying on a Bright School tradition, fifth graders launched their rockets on a beautiful morning with little wind. Launching rockets has been a part of the fifth grade science curriculum for 16 years.
