The library hosted a "Book Tasting" for third graders to look at and read various non-fiction books as part of their next reading unit.

The non-fiction unit in reading is about reading to learn about main ideas and subjects. Librarian Elizabeth Oakes set up tables of books for students to "taste" in various non-fiction genres. Each student had a booklet to complete questions at each table. Then they rotated between tables. There were books on topics like history, transportation, folklore, holidays, science, space, and animals. Students commented in the booklet about the books' covers and first few pages as they were only "tasting" them. Later, the students will select books they want to read cover to cover.
