Two new teachers are joining the faculty at The Bright School this fall.

Ann O’Brien, who has 12 years of teaching experience, is a new fifth grade teacher for writing. There are two additions to third grade: Kendra Reasor, who has six years of third grade experience, and Cindy Womack, who has been an interim teacher at Bright and returned mid-year last year to teach fourth grade.

Mrs. O’Brien comes to Bright after teaching at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School in Chattanooga since 2011. She taught fourth grade reading, writing, grammar, spelling and social studies. O’Brien earned her bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York, College at Genesco, and her master’s in education from Fordham University. She also taught fifth grade social studies and language arts at Woodglen Elementary School in New City, New York, before her family moved to Tennessee.

Mrs. Reasor is relocating to Chattanooga from Charlotte, North Carolina, where she taught third grade at Hawk Ridge Elementary School since 2011. She was the school’s teacher of the year for 2014-15 and the beginning teacher of the year for 2011-2012. Mrs. Reasor earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of West Georgia.

Mrs. Womack began teaching at Bright last year in fourth grade and was an interim kindergarten teacher in 2016. Prior to that, she taught kindergarten for two years and third grade for five years at Chattanooga Christian School. Mrs. Womack, who earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, also taught sixth grade math at Hixson Middle School, music at Woodmore Elementary School and seventh grade math at Ooltewah Middle School.

Mrs. O’Brien is filling the spot left by Vicki Everett, who retired last year after teaching at Bright for 26 years. Mrs. Reasor and Mrs. Womack are filling spots in third grade after Katie Shirley moved to pre-kindergarten, where Kathi Wagner retired after 21 years, and Amanda Angel moved to fourth grade.
