Congratulations to our Parents’ Association for receiving an honorable mention in PTO Today’s 2017 Parent Group of the Year search. PTO Today recognizes parent groups for all-around involvement efforts, accomplishments, activities and family events. “We want to shine a spotlight on the great, often under-appreciated, work being done by parent groups at elementary and middle schools across the country,” according to the call for nominations.

Last year, the Bright School Parents’ Association organized the Bright World event to celebrate the cultural diversity of our school, reached goals in the Charleston Wrap fundraiser, added new snack stations around the school to provide more nutritious and fresh snack options through the collection of Box Tops, honored the work of teachers in two appreciation lunches and coordinated the annual Bonanza fun fall event. The PA also made a significant contribution to the cafeteria kitchen renovation, which began in June, and added a new grill and ice machine in the cafeteria this spring.

“We are so lucky to have this great group working hard for our children,” said Director of Advancement Kim Brown, who is the school’s liaison with the PA.

This year’s PA leaders are planning several new events for parents and a Box Tops collection for a new hydration station outside the gym.
