First graders in Mrs. Nestler's science class read the book Iggy Peck, Architect, and were inspired to create some of the world's most famous buildings out of materials Iggy Peck might have chosen. Iggy uses things like bananas, diapers and pancakes to build in the book. Our students used less messy materials like plastic cups, cardboard boxes, packing peanuts, toothpicks, clothing pins and cards.

Each student had an architecture journal in which they chose three favorite famous buildings. They chose one building to create in class. Some examples were the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Eiffel Tower and the Taj Mahal. They displayed the buildings in the hall.
