Fourth graders won this year's high jump competition, a traditional event started more than 45 years ago. Students and parents gathered on the track to watch.

Cooper Webb cleared 4 feet, 5 inches, and Gracie Manning cleared 4 feet, 1 inch. Fifth grader Charlie Scearce cleared 4-4.

Last year's top finishers Catherine Curtis, Banks Born, and Ari Soss completed demonstration jumps at 4 feet to start the competition. They are all sixth graders at Baylor this year.

Third and fourth graders qualify for the event during P.E. by clearing 3 feet, 4 inches. Any fifth grader may compete. There were 43 total jumpers at the start.

The high jump event was first held in 1976 and organized by Coach Bob Cutrer.
