Students in all grades spent February learning about influential Black leaders, inventors and influential historical figures. For Black History Month, grades completed various projects.

First graders in Mrs. Fricks' class learned about Black inventors and then used that inspiration to think of and create models of their own invention ideas.

Students in Miss Sonal's kindergarten class chose famous Black people such as Ray Charles and Mae Jemison and presented what they learned to their classmates.

Second graders in Mrs. O'Neal's class learned about influential Black leaders such as President Barack Obama, Ruby Bridges, Wilma Rudolph, Jackie Robinson and Oprah Winfrey. Then, they made a presentation of famous Black people, recited what they learned, and Mrs. O'Neal made a video.

Fifth graders in Mrs. Hyer's reading class learned about several people, acts or events involving Civil Rights, researched them, and then presented what they learned to the class. Some of the topics included the Americans with Disabilities Act, Rosa Parks, Jesse Owens, Black Lives Matter, and women's suffrage.
