Fourth and fifth graders sorted items and stuffed goody bags for homeless people who receive help at the Chattanooga Community Kitchen.

Trish King and Sydney Newton from the community kitchen talked to students about how the organization helps provide food, shelter and necessities for people in the community all year round. Last month, they served 10,880 meals. Students discussed the differences between needs and things they would like to have.

Fourth graders made bags for people with infants and children, and fifth graders made bags for teen girls and helped put ribbons on ornaments to be hung on the kitchen's Christmas tree. All students made bags of candy and gifts.

Younger students drew pictures on place mats that will be used for holiday meals.
