The Bright School is following the directive of Gov. Bill Lee in closing school for the remainder of the year. Distance learning will continue as teachers provide online meetings and lessons.

Board Chair Austin Center and Head of School O.J. Morgan sent this message to the school community:

Dear Bright School Community,
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee announced this afternoon that he has asked public schools to remain closed for the remainder of the school year. We are following this directive as we too believe it is of utmost importance to protect our faculty, staff, students and families during this pandemic. The Board of Trustees had a regularly scheduled meeting today and discussed the possibility of extending our closure. This is a scenario we have been planning for, and now it is a reality.
In the coming days, we will be providing more details about our plans to finish the school year on a good note, to bring closure for our beloved fifth graders and make sure we are all in a good place to reopen the school when the time is right.
We know distance learning is not an exact replacement for what we offer inside the walls of our school, but let us assure you that our teachers and staff, some still without power and still shaken from the storm, are working very hard to fulfill our school's educational promise.

If you have any concerns in the coming days, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We wish you and your loved ones good health and well-being.
Sincerely,
Austin Center '85
