What You Need to Know First
Ages for Our Programs
The Bright School offers an early childhood program for preschool age children, which we call junior pre-kindergarten (JPK) and pre-kindergarten (PK), and kindergarten. Our lower and upper grades include first through fifth.
August 1 is our age cut-off date.
JPK: 3 years old
PK: 4 years old
Kindergarten: 5 years old
Campus Tours and Visits
See our school in action! All future parents are invited to schedule an individual parent tour any time of the year. This is an important early step in the admissions process and a great way to see what happens during a school day. Tours may be scheduled by emailing Brooke Moore: [email protected] or calling 423-267-8549.
Applications are now being accepted for the 2018-19 school year. An application must be submitted before a student visit (see below). The application fee is $50. Our online application is available here.
All applicants are required to submit a student recommendation form, completed by your child’s current or most recent teacher.
Please see below to download these forms:
Student Recommendation JPK, PK, K (This form is due before your child's play date.)
Student Recommendation 1-5 (This form is due before your child's classroom visit.)
For applicants in grades 1-5, we also require copies of report cards and standardized testing (if applicable).
Future parents are invited to meet current parents, ask questions and learn about more about the school. Current parents lead small groups or individuals on tours of the school.
Tuesday, September 26, 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Meet in the library.
Thursday, November 30, 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Meet in the library.
Time with Teachers
These events are held on weekends or nights and allow future parents to meet teachers and ask questions while school is not in session. Children are welcome to accompany their parents, and there will be activities for children to do while parents talk with teachers.
Sunday, January 28, 2018
Choose the appropriate time for your family:
1-2 p.m., meet with Early Childhood teachers
2-3 p.m., meet with grades 1-5 teachers
Playground Play Date
Come play with us! This is another type of weekend event held at our Early Childhood Enchanted Forest Playground. Future parents meet teachers and school staff while their children enjoy playing.
Sunday, September 10, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Saturday, October 21, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Applicants for early childhood (JPK, PK, and K) will be invited to come for a play date with current students and teachers on a school day, and they will have individual academic assessments during that time. Play dates are scheduled from February through April.
Applicants for first through fifth grades will be invited to come for a classroom visit and academic assessment. These visits are typically scheduled from February through April.
We make admissions decisions on a rolling basis. Parents (or guardians) will be notified of their child’s admission decision shortly after the admissions process is complete. A completed process includes the online application, parent tour, student recommendation form, and a play date or classroom visit. After acceptance, the deposit ($1,000 for PK-5 and $500 for JPK) is due with the enrollment contract two weeks after the child is accepted.
2017-18 school year:
JPK: $5,300 (3-day), $7,600 (5-day)
Tuition payments may be made in full or through the FACTS payment plan. Lunch for grades PK-5 is included in tuition. Supply fees, which include all school supplies, and field trips are separate costs. Visit our tuition page for more information about the payment plan.
Tuition grants, our term for financial aid, are available for grades PK-5. We encourage families to apply for need-based tuition grants. An admissions application must be completed before you apply for a tuition grant, and we recommend applying for a tuition grant as quickly as possible after completing the admissions application. Visit our tuition grants page to learn more about the application process.
