Bright World 2017: April 3-7
This celebration of cultural heritage is on display throughout the week, culminating in Bright World Night on Friday, April 7, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the gym.
Bright World demonstrates our school mission, which states: "The Bright School builds a foundation upon which students become wise and compassionate citizens of the world. Its century of progress fosters the intellectual, artistic, physical, and moral growth of young boys and girls."
The Bright community includes families from more than 20 countries. During Bright World Week, students and parents are encouraged to learn about other countries and cultures.
Activities During the Week
Students may earn tickets throughout the week by participating in various activities at school and at home. Parents can help their students by also earning tickets. Tickets are used for chances to win several prizes: Instamatic camera, sports binoculars, cooking class at Sweet and Savory, green frog box kite and a carry-on travel bag.
Each day in P.E. features games from different countries, including Syria, India, Iraq, Mexico and Pakistan. Lunch during the week has an international theme with the menu including foods from Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Middle East and England.
Parents are invited to take in a P.E. class or have lunch with their children. At home, tickets may be earned by trying new foods at a restaurant or at home, for instance. Check your child's backpack for tickets or download extra tickets here. A drawing for the prizes will be held on April 10.
Bright World Night
Come and sample foods from all over the world made by Bright families and enjoy entertainment and activities. There will be a Chinese chopsticks demonstration, henna tattoos and a board game from Bangladesh. The Bright choir will sing folk songs from various countries. Each child is invited to put a pin on a map showing his or her family's country of origin.
